G’Day all, my post today isn’t one of those one way is the only way sort of post but more of a find what makes you tick motivational post.
More than often I hear of people starting fitness and in no matter of time they have quit or stopped enjoying it. Most of the time it’s because they have tried something new and found they were not enjoying it as much as what their friend or colleague does. Unfortunately this creates a bitter feeling and your heart just isn’t in it and you find it hard to excel. Don’t feel bad it just wasn’t for you and that’s ok. A big part of success is finding what makes you and happy, this should also include the way in which you get fit and healthy. Some people like to lift weights, some people like to run, some people like team sports, some people like a bit of everything and some people just want to get fit for later in life. My advice is to try and find what fits you and go with it, if you find it’s not working and you can’t adapt to or start making it more enjoyable, try something else.
Find what excites you and what you can stick to when starting to exercise so that you can stick with it.
I come from a competitive nature so I found going in to the gym every day by myself boring and repetitive, to overcome this I decided to get to know other members so that I could workout with them and challenge myself with them. This helped me enjoy it more and I found myself looking forward to my training. I hate running long distances so I don’t do it as I don’t aspire to be a marathon runner, within saying that I don’t completely take running out of my programs because I don’t mind a little bit of it for my fitness and other goals of becoming fit in most areas.
Vital Strength and Fitness was designed around the basis that Fitness, strength and health is VITAL no matter what your cause, that’s why I adapt training to people wants, needs and passion. That being said, VSF doesn’t have all the tools to help everyone but if you have a goal VSF can assist you to plan towards it. We also have the experience to show you how to prevent injury through proper form and technique so that you can hopefully keep doing what you love. There are thousands of ways to get fit so find what you love and master it, sometimes there will be certain things that you will struggle at and won’t be too keen on doing but if you remember your overall goal it will help you through and make it more enjoyable for you.
The takeaway –
Figure out where you want to be long term with your fitness, find out what works for you and don’t be afraid to experiment on what helps get you to your goal. Don’t listen to the negative people that don’t believe in your goals or passion
Talk to professionals that can help you achieve your goals (having fun is important but to be sustainable in something you need to be doing the right techniques)
Sacrificing some things won’t hurt you but don’t sacrifice something so much that your progress to your goal is unenjoyable.
